After the success of his online classified ads website, The founder of Craigslist, Craig Newmark is now wanting to help people out. It is not that his website Craigslist is not helping people out selling their items online, but he is more of wanting to devote his new social network LikeMinded to charity. I have checked the website and it is still on beta. I think this has a lot of potential. Likeminded is developed to inform users about the non profit and other charitable organizations. It is to spread volunteer opportunities for those who want to join. It is designed to users and other organizations to be more “sociable” when it comes to voluntary causes. It is pretty much simple as his first successful website Craigslist. I think he believes in simplicity - it worked actually with CL and now he is doing it with Likeminded. I also saw a news that Newmark opened ventured to another site called CraigsConnects - also designed for non profit organizations.
Craigslist’s Success
I still believe to the power of execution. Creating something new online is overrated - I believe that almost all “new” ideas are just a re-hashed of a previous model. what matters is the execution. The improvements and ease of use which makes these websites successful.
