I have been optimizing keywords for months and I have encountered a few problems and one is not being able to rank at the second largest search engine today. Yep, its yahooooooooo! With some of my keywords, I have been working my ass out just to rank well in google and fortunately with some long tail keywords and what not, I have been ranking… only with google and not with other search engines.
Here are some things that I have learned and would consider if I want to top the serps in Yahoo!
Be mindful of meta tags. I have been filling up tags within my blogs. This is said to play an impact to the serps in yahoo.
Good Design - having a clean design is a plus to yahoo serps
Good Content - good content drives readers. this is one of the main factor to reign the serps, not only to yahoo but to all
Image tags -this is one important task that I am trying not to overlook. If ever my posts/sites have images, I make sure that I fill up the alt tags ? alt=”place description with keywords here”
Site/Domain Age - the older the age of your site and domain, the better chances to rank up yahoo serps
Updates - If the site/blog is well maintained and has updates regularly, more food for the crawlers, and more the chance to rank high on the serps.
Site submission - if sites/blogs are new, submission would let the search engines know that it exists.
Based on my OWN observation, it is almost the same with google. do what you do with google and be mindful of some ideas above, rest assured, you will do good not only with yahoo, but to other search engines as well.
