Have you ever wondered why some of your google ads show something like a “swing man golf club” but your content talks about editing your Permalink Structure for SEO? Adsense will show ads based not only per content entry, but on the whole blog itself. There are number of reasons why sometimes google ads miss the ads you would want to put wrapped with the text content.

Right amount of Keyword/s in the content

Seo gurus have this strong theory that having a correct density of keywords (number of keywords indicated in relation to number of words) would be a highly targeted topic and at the same time would generate ads that are relevant to the post.

Negative Keywords

Adsense would not want to show ads if your content has adult, gambling or casino related terms. With this kind of content, you would just see a blank google adsense block.

The Solution?!

  • Putting up Adsense HTML code

putting this code and before and after your or whichever section you are targeting would instruct adsense to see only the content area thus generating a more targeted ads within your post.

Here is an example.

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

<?php the_content(); ?>

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

  • Using (weight=ignore)

Its usage is to ignore the content of your sidebar completely. Just insert this tag at the beginning and end of the sidebar.php.

Here is an example.

<!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

<div id="sidebar">
</div>

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
