It is quite easy to have the latest version of this great software. An OfficeScan 8 upgrade to 10 is just a walk in a park. This is how I did it.
1. The old version should be removed from the server. You should uninstall your current Trend Micro Office Scan 8.0 from your server.
2. After removing your current version from the server, install the new version (Trend Micro OfficeScan 10.0). Use the same license key from your old version. This should not worry to you, since this steps will work without a hassle.
Now, if the Trend Micro OfficeScan client has been installed successfully, it will automatically update, it will download from the Trend Micro’s server and install it for you. If you are the administrator of your computer, you would just then wait until it prompts you for a reboot, if you are a limited user, you might want to have an administrator’s access to continue the installation process. Afterwhich, a restart is needed.
If you are thinking twice about the upgrade and wonders what is new in the version 10, my advice is to get the latest version since there are new features includes on the update, like the device control. The device control makes the management of other removable drives a walk in the park, you can easily give full access, read only’s to your ports, drives and the network folders.
