Social gaming is huge this past few years. Farmville and other similar games are looking to reach over one billion dollars this year. It is predicted that this year will be their highlights regarding US revenues for the first time. Last year it has an estimated reach of $856 Million according to a research group and with its rapid growth in ad spending this will definitely rise this year.

As I have blogged about the Advertisements of Social Network Gaming a few months back. I am guessing it is really happening. Sales of virtual or intangible goods will continue to rise and dominate which has an expectancy worth of $653 million this year. Emarketer says that lead generation offers are the third top earner for social gaming companies such as Zynga and Playfish. This classifies virtual currencies incentives filled out by players/users of such games in exchange of such intangible items/virtual currencies for their favorite games.
Virtual Currencies and Items Rule
It was reported and I have read that a few months back in Yahoo that there is this one online player which sold his “virtual real estate” for a huge amount of money. Though he had expenses, but the ROI definitely topped the expenses when he sold his “propterty.”

This goes to show that there are a lot of money to make from social games to advertisers, social games developers and even the players. These are huge numbers mind you, and being aware with such technology really gives you an edge to all of these. Don’t you agree?
